This is just a start - there are very few inclusive versions of sung Creeds that I have found. Maybe that's a good thing because it's such an ancient document, developed after much discussion! However, I also think it would be good to have some alternatives to give fresh expression for modern communities, but I'm having trouble finding them. Please add a comment if you know of any.
- STB045 We Believe Maranatha (Feliciano) This is a good spoken creed with sung responses. The response is a simple two part fugue with a simple sung (almost) drone for the bass. The creed is one developed by the Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music. The refrain could be used for any creed, really.
- CP44 / SFFS2042 / VT433 I believe in God Almighty (Sylvia Dunstan, USA) A good versification of the Nicene Creed. The version in Voices Together is best, referring to God as Author, rather than Father. It has been set to a few different tunes, and is a standard meter, so you could also set it to a tune that you like. New words to old tunes.
- SFFS 2248 We believe in God our creator / Creed One (Chip Andrus) A simple creed. It's OK. Sound sample.
- Online Resource I believe in God the Father (Carolyn Winfrey Gillette, USA) A more gentle and expanded version of the Nicene Creed, sung to a standard tune. New words to old tunes.
- GtG481 I believe in God the Father (David Gambrell) Fairly standard words sung to a fairly standard tune (GENEVA 48). It's nice to have a metrical version of the creed. New words to old tunes.
