I'm almost ashamed to say how "dependent" I feel on your suggestions. Our church is cycling through a bunch of temp, guest pastors, while we're between permanent appointments, and it seems a perfect time to let you lead me down the garden path.

Not that I always go there, or ... not that I stay on your path. Last Sunday I was so excited to tell the story of two refugee/escaped slaves from 19th-c Toronto for Black History Sunday. I've Got a Home in Glory Land is the name of the book that tells their story, so I sang the song, with the congregation, in a bunch of sung congregational verses, interspersed with actual archaeological history. Wow, was it fun!

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZxMhAuOwtIuUP-M5brIWF10PO3JIjhH18S7hrkwzvhI/edit?usp=drive_link

This week I'll probably go with you, 3 out of 3, unless the guest pastor rears up and asks for a favour.AlanGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13598235335370137327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3953574041544310550.post-16151414919474840172024-02-26T20:00:21.934-08:002024-02-26T20:00:21.934-08:00Where Charity and Love Prevail (ELW 359/ GG 316/ U...Where Charity and Love Prevail (ELW 359/ GG 316/ UMH 549) Tunes: ST. Survivors of sexual assault have asked us to stop singing Gabarain's music, and in the interest of standing with those who have been hurt, I have removed his works from my blog. Yes, flawed people can and do write beautiful music, but when it causes hurt to others for us to sing that music when we are together as a community, we can and should let that music go.
