Re: God be in my head. In our service, we sing a "Prayer Song" before a period of silent meditation and prayers of the people. I've used this (with Ms. Bloomfield's tune) in that slot where it was very effective. The congregation seemed to pick up it up pretty easily; plus, we repeated it every Sunday for a month, so it became pretty solid.

May God be on my lips and in my song
May I speak the love of God my whole life long.

don't know how to attach a tune here. a small chant that I've used for gradual and for a psalm refrain...

The online version of GtG has these suggestions for the James passage:
Jesus Shall Reign Where'er the Sun
Lord Jesus, You Shall Be My Song
Lord, Speak for Me, for I Am Yours
Lord, Speak to Me, That I May Speak
Though I May Speak
