Dear Natalie, Thank you so much for your always helpful collection of hymns and songs, with commentary. A really terrific resource. I happened to notice and am curious about a reference you made to Center Church on the Green in New Haven. See below.
I am the worship coordinator for Shalom UCC, New Haven. It's a long story but we are effectively progeny of Center and until a few months ago rented space in their parish house for our worship. So your reference caught my eye and I would love to learn about your connection to Center Church, to New Haven, as well as your reminiscences about the hymn, "I was there to hear your borning cry."

Very simple tune to sing. This always makes me think of Center Church on-the-Green in New Haven, CT. Lyrics, and a nice (slow) sound sample.

Hi Allie,
Great to hear from you. Center Church was my home church for three years, in 1998-2000, and we sang "I was there to hear your borning cry" a lot! I'd love to hear more about Shalom UCC and how your community has arisen. Email me on LectionarySinger[at]!!
