Good to sing during intercessions.  There are a lot of different tunes suggested for this hymn (INVERCARRY / KENTRIDGE), and they all seem pretty straightforward. If your congregation is really not at all confident with singing it can be sung to TALLIS' CANON. Lyrics.
Iona (Enemy of Apathy) / SP307  Sing my soul when hope is sleeping. "Sing, my soul, when hope is sleeping. Sing when faith gives way to fears; Sing to melt the ice of sadness Making way for joy through tears." Simple to sing. 
*Iona (Heaven Shall not Wait) / VU19 / SP326 Kindle a flame to lighten the dark and take all fear away. A good chant to use if you will include candle lighting in the service. Sometimes a bit tricky to sing - there's a strangely large jump at the start.
*StS121 / FFS50 Nothing is lost on the breath of God (Colin Gibson). A beautiful song and very easy to sing even if new. "Nothing is lost on the breath of God, nothing is lost for ever; God's breath is love, and that love will remain, holding the world for ever. No feather too light, no hair too fine, no flower too brief in its glory; no drop in the ocean, no dust in the air, but is counted and told in God's story." Words and full sheet music. Sound sample. 
*Seeds of Faith Do you know that I am your friend? / I’m Gonna Stick With You (Bruxvoort-Colligan) An excellent and fun song for kids. Lyrics, sound sample and songbook. Good for kids.

Out of the depths I cry to you O Lord 
*Iona (Sent By the Lord) / MV066 Senzenina? / What have we done? (South African) This beautiful chant from South Africa asks the question that we often ask when things go wrong beyond belief. It's important to know what the song means when singing it. If you have some part-singers in your congregation, this would be particular good. It's good to let people ask this question. It is also on the soundtrack for "The Power of One" so you could also play the recorded music if appropriate. Free sheet music (loads a pdf).
*TiS 683 / WoV735 / ELW603 / W&R416 God when human bonds are broken (Kaan) These words pick up an unusual theme, and fit really well with this reading. There are a couple of possible tunes, none of which are immediately familiar, but they are not difficult either.

Online resource Out of the Depths (Harding) A simple four part arrangement which would be nice if you have a choir or quartet that could sing this. Available for purchase, and you can view a sample PDF here. Note that the sound sample is for a different song, so that's a bit confusing, really.
G(II)112 / GC126 Out of the depths / If You O God Laid Bare Our Guilt (Foley) A cantored Psalm with a simple response "If you O God laid bare our guilt, who could endure it, who could endure it". Sound sample and sheet music here (search for "If you O God laid bare").

TiS 667 / G(II)415 / GC591 How shall I sing to God (Wren) The words are excellent, but neither the tune in TiS or Gather hymnals is straightforward because of the difficult meter; this might be a good song for your musicians to present to start teaching the congregation so they can remember it in more difficult times. All lyrics and sheet music sample of the Gather hymnal melody (HOPE) here.

The next 3 are all variations of the same Gelineau (cantored) Psalm, but with different responses. They are all pretty good, so I'm listing them all! There is just one change needed to make the Psalm inclusive (just change "his word" to "God's word" and it will be fine).
GC128 Out of the depths / I place all my trust in you O God (Gelineau) The original response from Gelineau. Very simple. Words to the response are "I place all my trust in you O God, all my hope is in your saving word". Sound sample and sheet music here (search for "I place all my trust"). Note this one also has a (non-inclusve) Trinitarian formula at the end.
G(II)113 / GC127 Out of the Depths / With the Lord There Is Mercy (Gelineau / Haugen) This response is also quite simple, but a slightly different emphasis. "With the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption". Sound sample and sheet music here (search for "With the Lord there is mercy").

Alternative Psalm Psalm 30
PH181 Come Sing to God O Living Saints (Anderson / ELLACOMBE) Good, simple, inclusive, humble and realistic words based specifically on this Psalm. Sung to a well known hymn tune (I sing the mighty power of God). Many congregations choose to sing only the first and last verses; the middle two are much more challenging. Lyrics for 1st & last verse (search for “come sing”). 
Iona (There is one among us) Lord you can turn all mourning into dancing An excellent simple refrain from John Bell “Lord you can turn all mourning into dancing, evenings of grief to mornings of great joy”
*TiS 647 / AoV2-012 / ATN 25 Comfort, comfort all my people (Mann) Easy to sing, beautiful lyrics. Chorus is “Comfort, comfort all my people, with the comfort of my word. Speak ye tender to my people, all your sins are taken away”. Lyrics, mp3 sample.
ATE 253 He turned my mourning into dancing This is not at all inclusive, but if you change the lyrics to make it addressed to God “You turned my morning into dancing”, it’s much much better. 
Tune In: You in all our worries / All will finish well “In this world where injustice reigns, you are in the midst of pain”. Excellent words of reassurance in a difficult world. Sound sample, lyrics and songbook available here.
*NCH085 / SFFS 2082 / Cha623 / ZSS105 Woke Up This Morning (African-American Spiritual) A great Spiritual. If you don't have one of these sources, you can just make it up from this video.... This could be a good Sunday to make use of those choir stalls; could even get the kids to write their own lyrics... Surreal version here.  Good for kids.

VU166 / SFFS 2210 Joy Comes with the Dawn (Light) Lovely words. The verses are very straightforward; it might be helpful to teach the chorus because there's a couple fof jumps. Lyric slide show!
*AoVK-125 / ATW 489 Turn our sadness upside down (Leigh Newton) Good for kids, and adults too. Simple tune, but not so simple that it’s boring. Lyrics (search in the page for "sadness"). Good for kids. 

2 Corinthians 8:7-15
*TiS 721 / Iona (LFB) / URW431 / Lau124 He became poor that we may be rich (Iona) A simple chant. Timing is a little bit tricky, so you will need to take a little time to teach it initially. "He became poor, that we may be rich, loving the world and leaving his throne; King of all kings, and Lord of all Lords, flesh of our flesh and bone of our bone".
TiS 174 / UMH194 Morning glory starlit sky (Vanstone). Quite amazing words and a very singable tune. There are six verses so everyone will know the tune by the end – still, it would be good to play it through to the congregation before singing. Very challenging yet still poetic words. May be a bit old-fashioned for some? Lyrics can be found here. The lyrics could also be read as a poem.
TiS 288 / Iona Not the powerful not the privileged (Bell) Note that the lyrics are masculine for God in one instance in the 4th verse. The lyrics are great though, so perhaps balance this song with some feminine imagery elsewhere in the service! The tune is not difficult.
Recorded music Someday soon our time will come (Dead Heart Bloom) I don't know if this really fits, but it seems to fit the Pauline ideas of being courageous in faith. See what you think - I think this could work very well played after the sermon, if you are the type of preacher who likes to end with questions rather than answers. *Tune In: God's Mercy. A beautiful ballad of healing: "Like the sun upon my skin, I can smile and take it in, and my wounds begin to heal, that's God's mercy". Lyrics and sound sample. 
*Seeds of Faith Jesus’ hands are Healing Hands (Bruxvoort-Colligan). A simple and fun kid’s song. "Jesus hands are healing hands, full of love and grace”. Lyrics, sound sample and songbook available here. Good for kids.

*TiS 737 / Iona (Common Ground, HSNW, T1AU) Lord Jesus Christ lover of all (Bell) I don't know why this chant works so well for Maundy Thursday, but it does. Note that some versions (T1AU at least) has a beautiful 4 part harmony arrangement with excellent moving parts in the lower registers.

Easy to sing; be careful not to get too fast; it's tempting but the words need a slower tune. Sheet music sample. Sound sample.
*CH570 / UMH512 / W&R495 When the storms of life are raging (stand by me) (Tindley) A good gospel song. It also fits very well with the Goliath reading "Lord, who never lost a battle, stand by me". Hymnals have a range of translations. Older style lyrics. We sing it pretty upbeat. Note, I am going to suggest this song for next week's gospel reading as well, so it might be worth teaching this week! Good for kids (unless you sing it like Elvis).
TiS 661 / UMH274 / W&R364 Woman in the night (Wren) A song about many women in the Bible and the women that we meet every day. Tune will be fine if you give the congregation a chance to join in only on the chorus until they are confident (8 verses, but they are short ones). Might be good used a few times with a few verses each time through the service.
*NCH274 / SFFS 2046 / CP390 Womb of Life and source of being (Duck / LADUE CHAPEL) Excellent words. The tune is unlikely to be familiar, and is just a little bit tricky. Some hymnals also list IN BABILONE which is easier and more familiar.

*MV132 Great sorrow prodded Jairus (Stilborn) A simple storytelling song with honest, inspiring lyrics.  
*MV149 CoC35 Peace for our children (Lankshear-Smith) A simple and quite repetitive (in a nice way) song that prays for peace for children, women, men, families, nations… and the soul. Good for kids.

*Traditional Only a boy named David This is fun and very old Sunday School song, which I think is still fun, espcially with actions! Free sheet music (loads a pdf). Good for kids.
*TiS 561 / AHB 467 / NCH494 / CH535 / LBW498 / CP(E) 621 / 82Hml-564/5 Who would true valor see / All who would valiant be / We who would valiant be (Bunyan) A lovely old hymn, with old-world imagery. I think it still works OK. TiS and NCH have inclusive language throughout, while other sources are quite varied. I really like the tune MONK'S GATE. Particularly nice with light instrumentation. A violin / flute and a drum may be all you need for this. One version of the lyrics.
*Iona (M&G, T1AU) / MV099 / GC(II)673 / G(3)763 / Lau996 Stand O Stand Firm (Cameroon) I love having an excuse to sing this simple and powerful song. Very easy for your congregation. You can make up cantor parts too “Oh my sisters…. Oh my brothers… Oh my children….” or you can name countries you are praying for in your intercessions. Good for kids. Scottish sound sample. Lead sheet.
*Online Resource Hear the message we now are proclaiming / El mensaje que hoy proclamamos. This jubilant Colombian song of liberty and new life for the poor and suffering would fit well with this reading. This energetic song is not hard to sing, and if the congregation sings only the chorus, while a cantor sings the rest, they will be able to easily sing along by the 3rd verse without stress.  Free sheet music.
*ATW 463 / Iona (T1AU) / ELW721 / SFFS 2219 / GC(II)451 / G(3)528 / W&R296 / URW436 Goodness is stronger than evil (Tutu / Iona) Words from Archbishop Desmond Tutu. "Victory is ours, victory is ours, through him who loves us". Some congregations change the last line to "Compassion is ours, compassion is ours...". It depends on the context in which you sing it, I suppose. Sound sample. Good for kids.

NCH495 / HPP443 / HPSS343 / W&R581 Called as partners in Christ's service (Beecher) A good song of commitment - particularly good if you are commisioning people to new roles this week, and good for any other service too. Sung to a standard tune.
WoV659 O Sun of Justice / Jesu Dulcis Memoria (Plainsong) I really like these words. They can also be sung to TALLIS CANON if you get nervous about Plainsong.
*ATOK 390 Put on love every day, never hide your love away (Walker) A fun song for kids!  Good for kids.

MV153 Body Mind and Spirit (Motum) A lovely gentle song about Christ as abundant life, resting within us stilling the stormy water. Easy to sing, and quite beautiful.
UMH476 / PH373 Lonely the Boat / Kahm Kahm hahn Born Sanaoon Simple Korean melody to this storytelling song. I would only sing the first 3 verses, although others may find the last two meaningful as well. Lyrics here (loads a pdf).
*TiS 728 Jesucristo reina reina ya This fun chorus from Argentina is just lots of fun, and our congregation hasn't sung it for a while (although the musicians often play it!). Good for kids.
FFS53 Out of the storms and seabirds' calling (Gibson) The song is about people who travelled across the seas to establish a church in New Zealand, but it would work for Australia too. "Out of the storms and seabirds' calling, far from the islands of their birth, leaving an old world half behind them, seeking new paradise on earth, voyagers all, they sailed the future, settled and made this place their home".
*BUC Resource Bring me home (Anderson) I'm not sure where to find this reflective song that Sheree wrote in 2006, but I think it would be really great to sing again.
*?Recorded music Storm (Lifehouse) This song could be very helpful, played for a congregation going through difficult times. I usually prefer songs that are more communal than personal, but hey... this would be really helpful for teenagers, I reckon. Youtube with lyrics.   
Cha181 The Storm Is Strong (Dunstan) Simple story telling hymn. Lyrics. Note that this congregation has split the verses to be sung partly by the leader and partly by the congregation.

*TiS 681 Lord let me see see more and more (Langmead) A prayer to see, hear, care, learn and love with God. Very straightforward to sing. It can get a bit "ploddy". Might be a good idea to use different instrumentation, alternate women and men for a verse or two and definitely use an a cappella verse! If you don't do this often, I can't recommend highly enough the odd verse without accompaniment in a hymn with more than 4 vereses. It helps the congregation to hear each other. NCH Psalter Psalm 20 A lovely cantored Psalm. The refrain is "Answer us, O God, when we call".

HPSS169 / W&R445 In the Day of Need (Warren) A good simple paraphrase of the Psalm to a very hymny tune.

*TiS 671 / AoV2-121 Made in God's Likeness (Lewis/Spence) Excellent Australian imagery. This is one of my very favourite songs. It is not difficult if you have a good musician at the helm. If it is new to your congregation, they will be able to join in on the verses by the time you get to the 3rd one. The change in tone with the verse really lifts this song. Good for kids.
Iona (Sent By The Lord) / CH275 / VU34 / R101 / ELW247 / SFFS 2232 / CP588 / W&R157 / SP10 / URW415 Come now O Prince of peace / O-So-So (Lee) A lovely simple and gentle song, inclusive for God and people. One of very few songs from Asia in Western hymnals.
*TiS 688 Come to be our hope O Jesus (Marachin) This is a really fun Latin American song from the World Council of Churches Assembly in Canberra. It's not easy the first time, but once you've heard it, it's very catchy and good for kids. The words are really excellent, despite a slightly clunky translation. Use some maracas. It would be worth teaching to your congregation! Good for kids.
*ATA 200 / CH530 / VU639 / CP(E) 548 / URW109 One more step along the world I go (Carter) A good fun kid's song from Sydney Carter which many of their parents will remember. "And it's from the old I travel to the new, keep me travelling along with you". Lyrics and a really slow and clunky sound sample.

*TiS 687 God gives us a future (Smith) Great words to a very easy hymn tune. Careful not to let it get the tune get too pompous; the words are not! "God gives us a future, daring us to go into dreams and dangers on a path unknown. We will face tomorrow in the Spirit's power, we will let God change us for new life starts now!". Lyrics here (scroll down). The hymn has been split into to two parts to include the blessing and words of mission.

*NCH 528 / UMH583 / WoV753 / Cha478 You are the seed / Sois la semilla. This is a simple song to sing, and the words are very cheering. “You are the seed that will grow and new spout; you’re a star that will shine through the day”. Good for older kids who can read all the words.
*MV 174 Soil of God (Holy Ground) This is probably most appropriate for last week’s reading, but would also fit for this week. The tune is quite siple and the words are good “Soil of God, you and I, stand ready to bear seeds of faith nourished by God’s tender care”.

(South African) This beautiful chant from South Africa asks the question that we often ask when things go wrong beyond belief. It's important to know what the song means when singing it. If you have some part-singers in your congregation, this would be particular good. It's good to let people ask this question. It is also on the soundtrack for "The Power of One" so you could also play the recorded music if appropriate. Free sheet music (loads a pdf).
*TiS 683 / WoV735 / ELW603 / W&R416 God when human bonds are broken (Kaan) These words pick up an unusual theme, and fit really well with this reading. There are a couple of possible tunes, none of which are immediately familiar, but they are not difficult either.

TiS 667 / G(II)415 / GC591 How shall I sing to God (Wren) The words are excellent, but neither the tune in TiS or Gather hymnals is straightforward because of the difficult meter; this might be a good song for your musicians to present to start teaching the congregation so they can remember it in more difficult times. All lyrics and sheet music sample of the Gather hymnal melody (HOPE) here.

The next 3 are all variations of the same Gelineau (cantored) Psalm, but with different responses. They are all pretty good, so I'm listing them all! There is just one change needed to make the Psalm inclusive (just change "his word" to "God's word" and it will be fine).
GC128 Out of the depths / I place all my trust in you O God (Gelineau) The original response from Gelineau. Very simple. Words to the response are "I place all my trust in you O God, all my hope is in your saving word". Sound sample and sheet music here (search for "I place all my trust"). "Part of a family interconnected, this is community; Welcoming strangers, visiting neighbours, this gives us dignity". Very singable song about building community. Works well for kids as well. A big favourite at Brunswick Uniting. Good for kids. Sound sample, lyrics and songbook.
*Worldmaking.net Brother Jesus right beside me (Bruxvoort-Colligan) This is a great rock song, good for little kids and a favourite of much older kids too. We haven't sung this for a couple of years, and it would be good to do it again. Lyrics and a very silly sound sample that does no justice to the song at all. Good for kids.

Newer versions of the hymn from the Christian Conferenc eof Asia have altered the lyrics to "Our God in heaven, Creator God" in the first verse. Other versions, such as CH4 have "Loving Creator, Parent and God"
*MV157 I am a child of God (Harding) A simple song with powerful words. Very easy to learn. I would just sing the first verse this week, as a round. It's important to remember that God speaks through children. Good for kids.

The tune is not difficult, but will need to be taught to a congregation if not familiar. The lyrics could also be read as a poem, and challenges the image of Christ as monarch, but also affirms God's reign. Lyrics.
